Supporting Housing Stability Through Wellness

Housing is the foundation for stability, but many individuals and families experiencing homelessness continue to face barriers related to physical health, mental health, recovery, nutrition, financial wellbeing, and access to care.

The Detroit Continuum of Care (CoC) recognizes that wellness and housing stability go hand in hand. Through Wellness Services, HAND seeks organizations that can help improve quality of life, support self-sufficiency, and remove barriers to obtaining and maintaining permanent housing.

Who Can Be a Wellness Partner?

Organizations interested in supporting housing stability through wellness services are encouraged to connect with HAND to explore partnership opportunities. We welcome organizations that support physical, mental, social, and financial wellbeing including:

  • Mental and behavioral health providers

  • Primary healthcare providers

  • Substance use treatment and recovery programs

  • Nutrition and healthy food access organizations

  • Fitness and recreation providers

  • Financial wellness and budgeting programs

  • Alternative and holistic wellness providers

  • Community-based support organizations

Organizations with experience serving people experiencing homelessness or housing instability are strongly encouraged to participate.

After You Submit

A member of the HAND team will review your information and follow up in a timely manner. The next step may include an introductory conversation to learn more about your organization, the services you provide, and your vision for partnership within the Detroit Continuum of Care (CoC).

Depending on the proposed partnership, additional steps may include meetings with CoC staff and service providers to discuss referral pathways, service coordination, on-site or mobile programming opportunities, and alignment with community needs. Wellness partnerships should compliment existing resources and support individuals and families working toward long-term housing stability, health, and self-sufficiency.
